In her early life, Sheila experienced severe domestic violence that left her with broken and damaged teeth and a diminished sense of worth. Even once she was free from her abuser, she still experienced challenges thriving because of her appearance. Someone along the way had helped her get dentures which changed her life, but over time they broke down. When she showed up at HopeFest she only had one remaining original tooth and could barely chew food. Her top denture was in bad shape but was not her primary concern.
One of our amazing triage dentists agreed to pull her one remaining tooth that day even though we had not planned to do any treatment. We then arranged with our friends at Global Denture Alliance to have her drive to their clinic in Payson to have her fitted for dentures. They replaced not only the broken partial, but also the old and damaged upper denture.
Here was her text to us after the treatment:
“It feels so good to smile! It’s been a long time since I felt this way. Long time! I look and feel like a new woman.”
